The Mustard Piece (Anno Domini 2024) doth most plainly reveal itself in its very naming, as though the work were possessed of a selfsame jesting spirit. For lo! It seemeth that the artist, be he bereft of means or shorn of grander ambition, was constrained—nay, compelled!—to fashion not a masterpiece, but a mere mustard one. A humble condiment, standing in vicarious mockery of loftier aspirations!
Behold then, as the film doth weave its curious alchemy, wherein that most piquant and golden unguent, so oft anointed sauce upon sausages and meats, be conjoined in irreverent similitude with the basest of earthly humors—yea, even with the foul and noisome dung of beasts! Yet marvel, dear spectator, for the vision doth unspool itself in reverse, an alchemic trickery of the cinematic lens, wherein the noble sauce, imbued with the savor of estragon, is seen not to be expelled forth from its vessel, but rather, most unnaturally, to recede and retreat, as though time itself were summoned to undo its own handiwork! A most perplexing and droll illusion, that doth confound the senses and set the mind to wandering strange and circuitous paths.
