The Villa Aurora & Thomas Mann House association is once again presenting an exhibition of its scholarship holders at Haus Kunst Mitte – House for Contemporary Art:

Janine Eggert, Nina Fischer & Maroan el Sani, Nieves de la Fuente, Paul Hutchinson, Annika Kahrs, Monika Orpik and Anke Völk

The eight artists each lived in Los Angeles for three months in 2023 and developed new artistic ideas and questions on site.

In the exhibition, they enter into a dialog through their works and present their different perspectives on California - from everyday life on the West Coast to the multi-lane highway architecture, from the view of the Pacific Ocean to the consequences of climate change at the Salton Sea. Together, the diverse impressions of the scholarship holders form a prism, an artistic cartography of the multifaceted city of Los Angeles and its surroundings.
