Emphasizing Hutchinson’s writing and the performative aspects of his practice, the exhibition Recent Works and New Readings at Projektbüro DFI e.V., Düsseldorf, brings together live readings with video, sound and photographic works of the past years.
Images that stem from Hutchinson’s most recent publication Remnants (Hatje Cantz, 2024) form the wall-based part of the exhibition and explore both formal questions of abstraction and photographic representation while equally alluding to questions of authority and class. The sound and video pieces form a counterpart to the image work and demonstrate Hutchinson's use of moving image, sound and speech.
Central to the overall curation of this exhibition is the use of language in Hutchinson’s practice, represented through publications, works and live readings of a selection of his texts dating from 2016-2024.
