Iron, plastics, Hercules bicycle
500 x 240 x 175 cm

A monumental sculpture and a Hercules bicycle leaning against it. The raised fist is a symbol of resistance, a sign that is associated with protest movements and demonstrations worldwide. The oversized hand appears powerful and immovable, even though it already shows many traces and some obvious damage — a relic of times gone by? The bicycle, on the other hand, stands for agile mobility and individual independence. Seen together, the result is a field of tension between power and social change. The title also refers to the ancient Hercules, the mythological hero, of whose superhuman strength only a fragmentary hint remains in the present day.
